چکیده

The trace fossil Gyrochorte is common in Upper Jurassic siliciclastic rocks of the Kachchh Basin, western India. In the Kimmeridgian Katrol Formation, Gyrochorte comosa Heer, 1865 is tied to storm-generated fine-grained sandstones and exhibits an internal structure composed of double arches in cross-section, confirming the three-dimensional nature of the trace fossil and its interpretation as produced by a deposit-feeder moving obliquely through the sediment. In the Tithonian to Lower Cretaceous Umia Formation, Gyrochorte occurring in thin-bedded, ripple-laminated medium-grained sandstones displays a range of morphological features connected with the sideway exploitation of the substrate (formation of fans) and variations in the degree to which the producer occupied an upright or forward inclined position within the sediment. The morphological expressions of these behavioural variants are subsumed in the new ichnospecies Gyrochorte variabilis.

Ichnotaxonomic analysis of trace fossil assemblages of the Upper Triassic Nayband Formation, Tabas Block, Central Iran

This study includes a thorough systematic analysis of the ichnological record in the Late Triassic siliciclastic Nayband Formation of the Tabas Block, Central Iran. A total of 48 ichnospecies representing 28 ichnogenera are identified and their preservation aspects, paleoecological aspects, producers and behavioral aspects are discussed. The ichnofauna includes Arenicolites, Asterosoma, Bergaue...

Asymmetry in the fossil record

Asymmetry is a fundamental aspect of the biology of all organisms, and has a deep evolutionary history. The fossil record contains evidence of both morphological and behavioural asymmetries. Morphological asymmetry is most commonly expressed as conspicuous, directional asymmetry (either lateral asymmetry or spiral asymmetry) in body fossils. Few examples of fluctuating asymmetry, a form of subt...

Concept drift detection in event logs using statistical information of variants

In recent years, business process management (BPM) has been highly regarded as an improvement in the efficiency and effectiveness of organizations. Extracting and analyzing information on business processes is an important part of this structure. But these processes are not sustainable over time and may change for a variety of reasons, such as the environment and human resources. These changes ...

A Foundational Approach for Managing Process Variability

A business process often shows different variations in a large organisation, due to different legal requirements in different countries, deviations in the IT infrastructure, or organisational differences. These variants are documented in separate independent process models. Management of these variants imposes various challenges. Invariant behaviour needs to be identified and redundancies among...

Sedimentary Facies, Architectural Elements and Trace Fossils of Kashkan Formation, Folded Zagros Zone in SW Iran

The Kashkan Formation (Paleocene to Middle Eocene), consists of conglomerate, sandstone, and siltstone in the Zagros Folded zone, southwest Iran. Type of the sedimentary facies, architectural elements and trace fossils show that Kashkan deposits were formed in a low sinuosity braided stream system, with north to south flow direction. The formation displays coarsening-upward succession reflects ...
